Below is a description of saliva test kits that can be mailed to your home. After you have mailed the kit with saliva specimen to the lab, Dr. Bivins will receive a report that can help identify underlying imbalances and dysfunction. Often, imbalances can be corrected with natural hormones, supplements, and modification of lifestyle and diet. Prices do not include the cost of consultations that can be in person or on the telephone.

Hysterectomy Hormone Profile
Regardless of the type of hysterectomy that you have had every woman should know her existing levels of hormones prior to beginning Natural Hormone Replacement Therapy (NHRT). If you still have your ovaries this test will tell us about possible ovarian production so NHRT can be given safely. Remember, Elizabeth Plourde tells us that 22 to 40% of the time ovarian production is compromised after having the uterus removed. If you also had your ovaries removed the multiple samples will give us reliable data to guide NHRT.
11 Estradiols, 11 Progesterones, 1 Testosterone, 1 DHEA(S) ($155)

Premenopausal Hormone Profile
This test creates a map of the female monthly cycle. Based on the data, natural hormones can be used to shift the parameters of the cycle towards normal, including length of cycle, timing of events, distribution, production, and ratio of hormones. This test may also be appropriate for perimenopausal women whose cycles are changing and inconsistent.
11 Estradiols, 11 Progesterones, 1 Testosterone, 1 DHEA(S) ($155)

Postmenopausal Hormone Profile
If just the female hormone levels are required this test provides a good snapshot. Two estrogens provide additional accuracy. Low testosterone levels in women can suggest low libido. High levels are associated with polycystic ovarian disease and idiopathic abnormal body hair growth.
1 Each: Estradiol, Estriol, DHEA(S), Progesterone, and Testosterone ($78)

Postmenopausal Hormone Profile plus Functional Adrenal Stress Profile
For the postmenopausal woman, or the woman who has had a hysterectomy, this test gives a snapshot of the adrenal hormones (Cortisol and DHEA) and the female hormones. This is an economical test as both the adrenal and female hormone levels are identified. The adrenal glands drive the female hormones and must be addressed for female hormone balance.
4 Cortisols, 2 DHEA(S); 1 Each: Estradiol, Progesterone, Testosterone, Melatonin ($142)

Expanded Premenopause Hormone Profile
17 Estradiols, 17 Progesterones, 2 Testosterones ($200)

Functional Adrenal Stress Profile
This test tells us how well your body is handling stress. The adrenal glands respond in a predictable way when stressed by long work hours, poor diet, not enough sleep, lack of exercise or too much exercise. Internal stressors also tax the adrenals. These include food sensitivities, pain, inflammation, parasites or glandular dysfunction. The sum total of the above will be directly reflected in your adrenal data. Life becomes a game of loving your adrenals, which act as the foundation for female hormones.
4 Cortisols, 2 DHEA(S), 1 Testosterone, 1 Estradiol ($112)

Single Hormone Levels
Estradiol, Estriol, Progesterone, Testosterone, Melatonin ($35 each)

Bone Resorption Assay, Mineral Elements 17
This urine test tells us the RATE at which you are losing bone. Abnormalities can be seen here even before an x-ray shows bone loss.
This test also gives us the levels of minerals in your body which relate to bone building. Results can also show a possibility of a malabsorption problem relating to bone loss.
17 Mineral Elements ($145)

Balancing hormones can help to lower your risk for cancer and osteoporosis; decrease PMS, hot flushes, headaches and vaginal dryness. An imbalance is not a cause but the effect of maladaptation to stress. Stressors are external, mental and emotional, and internal, i.e., food sensitivities, pain, inflammation, parasites or a glandular dysfunction.
